• Remove all the clutter and get rid of unnecessary items from inside and outside of your home.
• You want to present an orderly and roomy appearance.
• Make any necessary repairs and paint touch-up any area that needs it.
• Pay particular attention to the kitchen and bathrooms and ensure these look very attractive even if you have to spend a little to update.
• Clean and/or repair your carpet, floors, walls, windows, mirrors, doors and any other area that needs cleaning or repairs.
• Ensure any plumbing or electrical issues are repaired.
• On the outside, touch-up any areas that need it. Paint your front door and add some new and attractive touches to it like locks or door kicker.
• Do some landscaping to improve the curb appeal.
• On the day of showing, remove all trash and ensure the house smells clean and looks neat and organized. 
• It is advisable that most of the occupants should go out while the showing is taking place so the prospective buyer feels 'free' to look around with the Realtor.
• The home should also have good lighting.
